How to take care of your new Awnings:
FOR ALL AWNINGS:
New canvas Awnings need alternate exposure to rain and hot sun on them several times before they fit properly. We refer to this process as "Weathering In".
Although never really waterproof, this Weathering In process also causes the needle holes in the seams to swell over time to provide better water resistance.
To clean your Awning(s) we recommend that you LIGHTLY rinse your Awnings off with a fine spray garden hose to wash away airborne dust.
Tree sap and leaves are big enemies of Awnings. We recommend pruning all overhanging trees back to prevent the accumulation of tree sap and leaves which may stain the fabric.
PATIO/DECK AWNINGS:
leave items susceptible to damage from moisture, such as televisions, out under your Awning in rainy conditions. As indicated above, Awnings are water resistant not waterproof.NEVER
Velcro straps are fastened around each of the overhead rafters of your new Awning. These straps help to hold the fabric in place.
Should any of them become dislodged, simply reconnect them as tightly as possible.
Patio/Deck Awnings are not designed to accept any snow loads. Therefore, Patio/Deck Awnings should be taken down and stored in doors for the winter. We can provide this service or we would be pleased to show you how it's done.
DROP CURTAINS:
When your Drop Curtain(s) are installed the folds or rolls are "set" and left in the full up position. They should stay like this for a day or two so that the fabric will develop a "memory" for the folds.
